Marking the start of an amazing calendar of events this summer, the Farnborough Airshow 2012 boasts an exciting line-up of attractions making for a great day out for all the family.
Taking place on Saturday 14 and Sunday 15 July 2012, visitors to the public weekend of the world famous Airshow will be able to not only witness an amazing 5 hour flying spectacular and static aircraft display, also enjoy a host of show features that promises to keep visitors young and old entertained and informed all day.
Visitors to the show will be among the first to witness the future of space travel with Virgin Galactic who will be presenting a unique exhibit at the Farnborough Airshow. The world’s first ‘spaceline’, it will be able to offer passengers the opportunity to experience sub-orbital travel.
Other highlights for this year’s show include the ‘In The Zone’ Touring Exhibition - the Wellcome Trust’s major UK-wide initiative linked to the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, the Hornby Airfix Roadshow and, making a return appearance for the 2012 show, Team Extreme, the world-class skateboard, BMX and inline skate display team, who will also be bringing their amazing break dance show.
The future generation of pilots, engineers and scientists is another key feature of this year’s public weekend. The Innovation Zone will host a variety of interactive exhibits and demonstrations showcasing technology that could feature in the aircraft of the future. The Zone will also spotlight the Boeing and Royal Aeronautical Society' (RAeS) Schools Build-a-Plane Challenge and will host the unveiling of Hampshire-based Yateley School’s winning aircraft.
The Space Zone will also inform and enlighten, with exhibits from the UK Space Agency and its European counterparts, the Zone will show how space technologies shape our world today and how space exploration helps us understand the universe and broaden our horizons.
